Kayla English is an erotic writer in hiding. After her ex humiliated her and basically called her a freak due to her taste for the kinkier side, she needed a break. If that isn’t bad enough, her high-society mother basically shunned her and called her a disgrace to her deceased father. As a writer, he had won numerous awards and was well known in the community, so to have a daughter that wrote erotica was an insult in her eyes. Now she is in Florida to rekindle her writing vibe and get her alter ego back on track for her next book. Her best friend Bailey offered her two weeks of sanity at her parents’ beach house and the prospect of peace and quiet seemed promising.
Stepping up to the front door, Kayla remembered what it was like growing up in the area and the two boys she used to swoon over. Bailey’s brother Tyler had always been drool worthy and so was his best friend Gibb. Too bad they were way out of her league! She had always dreamed of giving her virginity to them but that was a dream that never came to pass, only a wicked fantasy. Now walking through her best friend’s kitchen years later, she began to get settled and was shocked to see the gloriously naked body of none other than Tyler, underneath the outdoor shower for her to see. Frazzled to see his eyes meet hers she hides behind the counter pretending she didn’t see him, but her hiding spot is not as helpful as she thought. Standing before her clad only in a towel, Tyler was more than happy to welcome Kayla back to the neighborhood.
Tyler could not believe that Kayla was standing (or sitting if you count her hiding behind the counter) in the kitchen of the house he and Gibb were staying in while their roof was repaired. Tyler had always had a thing for her, and the years that have gone by didn’t change how he felt. Of course he knew that Gibb also had a thing for Kayla despite his denial. His point proven to be more valid as he watched Gibb walk through the door and hug Kayla with such heat in his eyes there was no hiding it. Formalities aside, the trio realizes that a miscommunication has placed them all at the same house for the next few weeks and opportunities to turn wicked fantasies into reality are endless.
I really enjoyed this story for the simple fact that it is a fun read. The elements of a traditional chick flick type of story are there, but the steamy hotness between the trio brings it to an erotic level that will melt your panties. Amidst the playfulness there is a subtext that Gibb and Tyler have kept hidden for years. The pair had an encounter together that left Tyler sleeping with every female to prove his masculinity, while Gibb found himself in a one-sided marriage with a cheating wife. Ignoring their attraction to each other, it isn’t until Kayla arrives that the heat between them comes to a boiling point. When she walks in on the two of them and they realize she is willing to accept them, two become three and Kayla finds the muse that had been eluding her writing for so long.
This truly was a fun read and a fairly quick one. In saying that, the story does have its serious moments when the trio deal with the backlash of their relationship becoming public and Bailey sharing her own issues that are plaguing her. The drama only continues further when Gibb and Tyler convince Kayla to go public with her writing instead of hiding behind her pen name. Needless to say, you will laugh, squee, and maybe even gain a soft spot here and there as you follow these three lovers through their self-discoveries and the realization that there are no rules when it comes to the heart.

With her inspiration on a temporary hiatus, Kayla never expected a two week stay at a friend’s beach condo to jump start more than her writers block.
Kayla English writes erotic romance but not so much from experience as from a vivid imagination she inherited from her father. While she gets lots of encouragement from her friend Bailey, she’s currently on the outs with her mom over her rather explicit genre choice. I’ve talked with many erotic romance writers and this isn’t unusual. The family who should be supportive are often the very ones who never know or maybe never acknowledge what’s being published. Having heard these stories firsthand made Kayla’s story all the more realistic.
Luckily for Kayla, she doesn’t simply gain a quiet place to work for a couple weeks, she walks right into a steamy scene that could have come from one of her books.
Ty and Gibb have been best friends since they were kids. It was only recent, and with the help of some liquid courage, that they allowed themselves to realize there was more than just friendship between them. It didn’t end well. I’ll simply say one of the men compensated by working his way through every available woman in town (sometimes two at at time) and the other thought marriage was the answer. Not surprising, they were both wrong. Enter the one who got away who also happens to be the one who can bridge the missing piece between Ty and Gibb.
I really enjoyed this book but that didn’t surprise me. Everything I’ve ever read of Ms. Redford’s was purely entertaining. The plot isn’t heavy, the dialogue between these three (especially when Ty opens his mouth) is straight up dirty, and there’s just the right amount of heart and story outside the threesome to give it substance and purpose. Kayla’s issues with her mom and later a secondary character built some tension into the story to see how or if their difference would be resolved. While resolution isn’t absolute in this story it did leave an opening to come back to these character later.
I wanted Kayla to be as bold in real life as she was in her writing. It made it all the more sweeter that it was the encouragement of the two men who had loved her forever that helped her see her own worth. This isn’t a one sided relationship, which was nice. Kayla gives the men what they need to be able to open up and be honest with each. Once they all agree about what they want, be prepared for some serious fire and creativity. If the idea of double-penetration has you feeling a little light headed you might want to reconsider this book but I’d encourage readers to give it a chance. Ms. Redford makes a very good argument for pushing the envelope. I’ll be interested to see what she does next.
Speaking of future books, Ty’s sister Bailey reveals a tantalizing secret towards the end of the book that has me so excited to read the next book. I can’t reveal what but it also had me flipping back through the story to see if there were telling hints that I had missed.
This is going to be a fun little series to read and there are plenty of single characters left over in Wicked Shores (great name for a town, BTW) to keep me coming back for more if Ms. Redford chooses to write their stories. This is one reader who has her fingers crossed! I hope you’ll join me in this quaint little seaside town for all the excitement of friends coming home, families reuniting and love in the most unexpected places.

Juicy reading!
Her stories have it all hot sex, humor, hot sex, engaging characters, hot sex and great storytelling. And, did I mention the hot sex?
I really liked the characters, and loved that they liked each other for many many years so the storyline gets going fairly quickly organically. The characters were well developed but I don’t think their triad was. I don’t mind a lot of sex in a book and this one has plenty. But in this case i think it got in the way of developing the actual triad relationship. They think a lot but speak little and communication is critical in this type of relationship. I am unsure who was my favorite character because they are all likeable but Taylor was amazingly raunchy and I loved every minute of his comments. I laugh out loud with his lines. The other two are pretty cool too. There is going to be more to this book because we learn something about Bailey that can give us another book.
Really enjoyed reading this book but the title suggests that more will be coming soon. Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer.
This book is fun sassy and erotic what a better way to spend some time with a book. This book really is a great read with a wonderful story line.
