He’s a by-the-book Texas sheriff; she’s on the run from a murder conviction...

When a tornado provides Rosalyn with the opportunity to escape the gallows, she collects her daughter Lucy and flees. They travel far enough West that Rosalyn believes she’s gone to the ends of the earth. She hopes she and Lucy will be safe in this remote North Texas town where she embarks on a new life as a dressmaker. If only she could avoid contact with people, especially the handsome sheriff who pops up every time she turns around. She fears either she or her chatterbox daughter may slip and reveal too much.

Joel Stone has been content with his life, even if it’s not the one he’d dreamed. His younger brothers are married and living nearby, his aunts have moved to Radford Springs, and he is respected for the efficient job he does as sheriff. When he meets the new widow in town, his instant attraction staggers him. She appears uninterested, but he is determined to win her hand in marriage.

But life doesn’t turn out the way either Rosalyn or Joel plan. They overcome temporary obstacles, but what of the secret she protects? Can he save her from the gallows?

There were a few things that I didn't care for in this book, but for the most part I found it to be a really good read. I liked the heroine, Rosalyn. She was a strong woman trying desperately to take care of her child on her own. Convicted of poisoning her husband and sentenced to hang, she was able to escape with the help of two of her friends...and a tornado. How is that for something different? The hero, Joel? Well, I just don't know about him. Sure, he had all the regular hero requirements...strong, brave, loyal, etc. But I just felt the instant attraction on his part was a little overplayed. And his house....way, way too much! The plot was good and kept me reading. I don't intend to read the other two books because the plot of both seemed to be given in this one. But, I did enjoy the book and I will look to see if the author has written books other than this series.

Bluebonnet Bride Men of Stone Mountain Texas book 3 A Stone Mountain Texas edition by Caroline Clemmons Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I felt the book was only okay. On the plus side the writing was very smooth and the book was very easy to read. The plot itself, however, was quite predictable with the exception of a few twists, and was mostly bland and was a little too saccharine for my taste. I did not empathize with the characters at all. They seemed too larger-than-life and too stereotypical.
A pleasant, heartwarming book that addressed issues such as spousal abuse, the importance of family, abuse of women and children, a corrupt law enforcement system, etc. Kudos to Ms. Clemmons. The characters were true to their respective roles in the book. My overall thought though was that it was a bit unsophisticated, innocent, unrealistic and repetitious. Nonetheless, I enjoy happy endings and thus enjoyed this book.
Blubber Bride has a great storyline. Although it could easily be a stand alone book, much of the hero's character was developed in the earlier books in the series. Ms. Clemmons includes intrigue in her love story, making for an entertaining read. The language used was straightforward and there were very few grammatical errors. This book contains mild sensuality but violent antagonists so be prepared for "PG13."
Roslyn is running from the law with her daughter after escaping from jail after a tornado destroyed it. She falls in love with the sheriff of the town she settled in. She knows she should tell him if her past, but afraid of she does she will loose him.
Interesting read, but dialogue was a bit stilted at times and not quite believable. I expected a little more focus on the terrible crime that Miss Stanton committed, but the incident was glossed over a little too quickly. Descriptions of the characters, houses, interiors and clothing were well done and the overall plot was good. I applaud the author's effort, however, and look forward to more of her work.
I received a free copy but voluntarily reviewed.
When I finished Brazos Bride, (Micah & Hope's story) I thought very good story and characters with intriguing plot. When I completed High Stakes Bride (Zach & Alice's story) I thought "wow!" The second book is even better, and it was just as engaging, but also had me laughing out loud and thinking "How could I love this Stone Family even more?" Bluebonnet Bride (Joel & Rosalyn's story), was the "icing on the cake" for my more Stone Family fix, and has me yearning for even more.

The Men of Stone Mountain are former civil war soldiers, former Texas Rangers, smart, hardworking, handsome, strong, but gentle and loving with their women, children, and widowed aunts. The women are strong and feisty. The children are precocious and lovable. The secondary characters are well developed and blend in and out within the story and main characters flawlessly. The villains are so evil, the reader feels the fear and can't wait for their downfalls.

This reviewer will not give the story plots away as it is best to get this trilogy as soon as possible and prepare to read non-stop and enjoy! These books have all it all, especially mysteries needed to be solved with plenty of bad guys that need justice. I have read many of this author's previous books and have not found one yet that disappoints. I can hardly wait to re-read this trilogy again, it was that good!
A tornado helps Rosalyn, awaiting execution, escape with her daughter. A widow, accused of poisoning the husband, she finds happiness and a new husband till her past catches up! Thankfully the true culprit is apprehended, Rosalyn is exonerated and all ends well.
The story line may not be unique, but the book becomes enjoyable in building up a close knit family, love and respect within the family. The widowed daughter Lucy touches the heart, so also Joel Stone who marries the widow. Each of the character has been brought to life.
Good read.
